Bork'An and Tash'Var Septs (Tau Empire):  The Tau have hopes of bringing sub-sector Timbra into the Tau Empire as the home of a new Sept World which they intend to establish on Flint.  The other worlds in the region have little to offer them but there can be no doubt that the Tau will need to deal with these worlds as they represent potential threats to the Tau’s ability to control the region.  The two Tau players represent an alliance struck by the Ethereal Council on Bork’an with each Shas’O leading a separate Hunter Cadre deployed to the sector.

These separate Hunter Cadres will often share a similar view of their goals in the region and how to best serve the Greater Good, but each commander does represent a different faction within the Empire and there has already been some debate between the high level command as to how best to serve the Greater Good.  Tau forces have begun to move openly in the sector and have established the beginnings of a colony on the surface of Flint.

19th Brimlock Dragoons (Imperial Guard):  The Dragoons are an Imperial Guard regiment that rebelled from the empire during the Damocles crusade. They have settled the planet Leyhea in the Tau empire and started a new colony quickly with the help of the supplies taken during the Ultramarine's retreat from the Damocles Crusade. News of the establishment of the colony of Brimlock citizens has spread throughout the hives on their homeworld of Brimlock. The Brimlock Dragoons have sworn to free as many of their population form the rule of the Ultramarines.Under the command of General Victor this mechanized force deploys from their battlecruiser Repentance in support of Tau operations around the galaxy. These soldiers have landed on Timbra Prime and have every intention of making their erstwhile masters pay a heavy price for having abandoned them.

Dark AdMech:  The AdMech Magos Supreme, sequestered deep in the bowels of his fortress on the Moon Base, has spent the last two centuries growing increasingly frustrated by the rampant corruption and political infighting across the system.  These petty bureaucrats have been placing ever increasing demands upon the AdMech contingent in the region that have detracted from the ability of the AdMech to pursue their research into the alien technology that has been uncovered in the caverns under the Moon Base.

This frustration has left the Magos Supreme open to the subtle influences of Tzeentch emanating from the surface of Gallesti.  This has lead him realize that under the corrupt rule of the imperium he will be allowed to uncover the truth.  Working in secret, the Magos and his counsel have devised a plan to eliminate the petty politics of the planetary governor, and has taken steps to draw the Demon Prince Thoth into the sector with the hopes of forging an alliance between them.

Recognizing that this will be perceived as treason, should it ever be uncovered, the Magos has also reached out to a Tau Water Caste Emissary, offering support to the Tau Liberation of the sector in return for promises of non-interference to the AdMech forces.

Chaos:  The Demon Prince Thoth returned to realspace, bringing his warband through the warp to the Timbra system in response to a summons from the surface of Gallesti.  He has made an offer to the Dark AdMech Magos Supreme that he can provide him guidance into the activation of the newly uncovered technology.  Thoth's interest in the region is actually much more focused on increasing conflict than in helping the AdMech, having come to believe that it may be possible to complete the failed ritual begun on Gallesti many centuries ago, should there be a sacrifice of sufficient magnitude.

Thoth is well aware that he cannot hope to muster sufficient force at this time to overthrow the entire system and so intends to use the AdMech forces as his cats paw, carefully positioning the Tau and the Human forces in the sector into a position where they will serve as a counter to the inevitable response from the Imperium.  It is his hope that this battle will sufficiently weaken both sides so that he might have hope of slaughtering the remnants of whoever might happen to be the victor, believing this to be sufficiently pleasing to Tzeentch that he might be allowed even greater blessings at the hands of his master.
